Master Of Music In Music Education —
Performance Option
34 Semester Hours
The Master of Music in Music Education (Performance Option) is designed for those who can demonstrate appropriate performing ability. The option is not intended to replace the opportunities for experience in Graduate Recitals which continue to be a part of the Applied Music performance degree program.
In addition to four credit hours in applied music as part of the core requirements for the M.M. in Music Education degree, a research component consisting of MUE 698 (1) Performance Research, VOIE/PIA/AIM 696 (1) Recital to be taken with applied lessons, Applied lesson to be taken with VOI/PIA/AIM 696.

Research Report Option
34 Semester Hours
The Master of Music in Music Education (Research Report Option) requires completion of a scholarly investigated and written paper which is created through registration in the following courses:
MUE 500 Methods and Materials of Research (3) Basic techniques and procedures. Major types of research. Methods for locating, evaluating, and interpreting evidence. Preparation of a research outline
MUE 691 Research Seminar in Music (2) A research proposal with supporting procedures is developed. Guidance in individual research topics, with tutorial assistance in form and style of research writing. Outline for Section IV (Discussion) and working bibliography are complied
MUE 692 Research Report (2) Completion of the research paper

Orff-Schulwerk Option
34 Semester Hours
The Master of Music in Music Education (Orff-Schulwerk Option) is designed to provide certification in Orff-Schulwerk as recommended by the American Orff-Schulwerk Association. To complete requirements for the degree and AOSA certification requires an eighteen (18) credit hour concentration:
Level I: MUE 570 (2) Basic Musicianship, MUE 571 (1) Recorder, MUE 572 (1) Movement
Level II: MUE 573 (2) Basic Musicianship, MUE 574 (1) Recorder, MUE 575 (1) Movement

The Master of Music in Music Education (Music Technology Option) is designed to provide certification in music technology as recommended by Technology in Music Education (Ti:ME). To complete requirements for the degree and OAKE certification requires a ten credit hour concentration (10):
